Ho! Ho! Ho!
It’s that time of year again! The Christmas decorations are going up, end of year parties are being attended, and for many people lots of hard work to get projects completed before the holiday season.
We’ve had a wonderful year working with all of our longstanding clients as well as developing new relationships with the organisations we’ve had the pleasure of partnering with in 2011.
2011 – What a Year it’s Been!
Upon review of the year we were suprised at just how many successful projects we have completed throughout 2011, and what a year it’s been. No wonder time flies! We thought we’d take this opportunity to share with you the achievements we have had in partnership with our clients throughout 2011. The majority of our projects fall into the following categories:
Learning and Development
- Analysis of learning and development needs for individuals and teams for a number of new systems being implemented in 2011 and 2012
- Instructional design of facilitator led learning materials, storyboards, user guides and quick reference guides
- Instructional design of storyboards to meet compliance changes being implemented in 2011
- Updating of online learning modules to meet changes in legislation
- Instructional design of numerous online modules to support the implementation of a new insurance system
- Instructional design of several intranet guides to support staff
- Instructional design of self-paced induction training
- Instructional design of a number of compliance based online learning modules
- Instructional design of a number of compliance facilitator led modules.
Performance Management
- Design and development of materials (Master Class, Leaders Pack, Staff Pack, Fact Sheets, Information sheets and much more) for the introduction of a consistent approach to the assessment, measurement and reward of performance
- Instructional design of learning materials for the implementation of a new performance management system.
Human Resources
- Design of materials to guide Human Resource staff to comply with the Fit and Proper Framework
- Review of the existing induction materials and redesign of the induction program.
Organisational Development
- Assisted in the review and redesign of organisational procurement processes for an international mining organisation.
Change Management
- Investigation and preparation of a training needs analysis for the learning and development requirements resulting from large scale changes being introduced to a leading Australian financial institution
- Instructional design of a training program consisting of online modules to support the transition to new processes and system use within a large financial insitution
- Instructional design of the training and supporting materials for the introduction of a new system within a large Australia-wide organisation
- Instructional design of training materials to support process changes and a new system introduction within a large financial institution
- Design and development of online learning modules supporting the introduction of regulatory compliance changes and their impacts on a major Australian bank
- Development of training materials supporting large internal changes within an Australia-wide organisation.

December Tips
Given this is our last newsletter for the year, we thought we would make our tips a little more festive in their focus. Our tips are all about surviving the end of year and preparing for a successful new year.
- Tip 1: Be realistic – ask yourself what really must be completed before the end of the year. Prioritise!
- Tip 2: Pace yourself – we all get caught up in the end of year rush to get everything finished so we can start the new year fresh.
- Tip 3: Plan Plan Plan – start thinking about the new year now. Start putting plans in place so you can start full steam ahead in the new year.
- Tip 4: Congratulate yourself – think back over the year and recognise your achievements.
- Tip 5: Have fun – If there’s one thing we know how to do well at Optim, it’s to not take ourselves too seriously. Projects, milestones and deadlines can be stressful, but if you take time out to laugh every now and then, you’ll have no trouble achieving what may seem like the impossible!

The team here at Optim Learning Solutions will be taking some time off over the coming festive season. Our office will be closed from 22 December 2011 to 16 January 2012. We know that you have worked just as hard as us this year, and hope that you are able to take some time out yourself and share your holidays with family and friends. We look forward to working with you in 2012.
